Your child has worked very hard in math this year! We’re sure you agree that your child must not lose these hard-earned skills! To prevent any “summer slide,” we have carefully compiled this list of skills for summer practice. It’s essential that we help our students stay the course and be ready to dive into 7th and 8th grade math in August.
On ixl.com we will be tracking student practice throughout the summer. These assignments are required and will count as part of next year’s first-quarter math grade. One of the advantages of an online practice site is that students receive immediate feedback and an explanation of their errors. Parents, do not worry about explaining the math to your children; just please help us monitor that the work is completed.
Students should make every effort to complete these assignments correctly. Sometimes they are tempted to rush through just to finish! However, our Analytics function in ixl shows us not only when and how much practice is done but also whether students are just guessing to build up points or whether they are also learning from their mistakes.
Together we can boost our students’ math retention! Thanks for working with us on this extremely important summer follow-up!
Thank you and have a great summer,
Mrs. Maxwell
